Crostini With Parmesan Cheese

These oven-toasted crostini make an excellent snack to serve with toppings. Or serve the crostini with soup or as croutons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 crusty baguette or French bread loaf
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • coarse or flaky sea salt or kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese, optional

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375 F.
  2. Slice the baguette thinly on the diagonal.
  3. Brush both sides of each slice of bread with olive oil and then sprinkle lightly with coarse salt and pepper.
  4. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes. Turn and continue baking for about 5 minutes longer, or until nicely browned.
  5. If desired, sprinkle the slices with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
