Half Pound Cake

This easy pound cake is baked in a loaf pan. Frost with your favorite vanilla or cream cheese frosting or serve slices with lemon or fruit sauce.

Cook Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes



Cream shortening and butter with sugar; beat in lemon juice and egg yolks. Fold in egg whites.

Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg; fold into first mixture. Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan, line with waxed paper; grease bottom of paper lining. Pour in batter; bake pound cake at 375° for 65 to 75 minutes. Calories per serving, based on 12 slices: 324
