Half Pound Cake

This easy pound cake is baked in a loaf pan. Frost with your favorite vanilla or cream cheese frosting or serve slices with lemon or fruit sauce.

Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes
Calories per serving, based on 12 slices: 324
- Heat the oven to 375 F.
- In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, cream shortening and butter with sugar; beat in lemon juice and egg yolks. Fold in egg whites.
- Sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg; fold into first mixture.
- Grease a 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan and line with waxed paper; grease bottom of paper lining.
- Spoon the batter into the pan; bake pound cake for 65 to 75 minutes.
