Easy Steak and Potato Skillet

  • 1 pound beef round steak, cut into 4 serving size pieces
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 can (16 ounces) small whole potatoes, drained, liquid reserved
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules, or equivalent base
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups frozen cut green beans







Put flour in a food storage bag. Shake each piece of beef in bag to coat with flour, using a meat mallet to pound flour into meat.

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown beef on both sides. Add onion and green bell pepper to skillet; cook until onion is tender. Drain.

To reserved potato liquid, add enough water to make 1 cup. Mix potato liquid with ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and beef base or granules, salt, marjoram, and pepper; pour on beef onion mixture. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.

Add potatoes and beans to skillet; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beans are tender, about 10 minutes.
Skillet steak recipe serves 4.
