Guacamole takes just minutes to make from scratch, and it is so much better than store-bought. This version has lively flavor from cilantro, garlic, and lime juice and extra texture from the minced onion and tomatoes.

A small bowl of guacamole

Recipe Variations

  • Spicy: Add a tablespoon or more of minced jalapeño pepper.
  • Smoky: Incorporate a dash of smoked paprika or chipotle powder.
  • Creamy: Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of sour cream for a slightly tangy flavor and creamy texture.
  • Fruity: Add some diced mango or pineapple for a sweet-savory combo.

Storage

If you don’t plan on eating the guacamole immediately, place a sheet of plastic wrap directly on the surface to minimize exposure to air. Cover tightly and refrigerate. Enjoy the guacamole within a day or two.
