Barbecue Meatballs
This big batch of meatballs is cooked in sauce and kept warm in the slow cooker for serving. Serve as appetizers with toothpicks or serve with buns for sandwiches.

Meatballs
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 pound bulk pork sausage
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 2 cups dry bread crumbs
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 heaping tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients for meatballs. Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
Place in a large baking pan in a single layer and cook at 350° degrees for about 30 minutes or until browned. Remove and drain off excess fat.
Meanwhile, prepare sauce. Cook 1/4 cup chopped onion in oil until tender. Add remaining sauce ingredients.
Simmer 10 minutes. Place meatballs in a crock pot. Pour sauce over, cover, and keep on LOW setting for serving.
Makes about 5 dozen meatballs.
