Chocolate Chip Cookies
This Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe is a classic one, with chocolate chips, brown and granulated sugar, butter, and optional chopped nuts.
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 package (12 ounces or 2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 to 2 cups chopped nuts, optional
Directions for chocolate chip cookies
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl. Stir in sugars, eggs, vanilla and butter. With an electric mixer at medium speed, beat until well mixed, or about 1 minute. Stir in chocolate chips and then nuts, if using. Drop by tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake chocolate chip cookies at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, or until browned. Remove the cookies to rack to cool. Makes about 72 chocolate chip cookies.
